Why A2?

Why am I serving with Asian Access?

I am serving with Asian Access because the people are fantastic. The strong value that Asian Access places on being a family is important to me.

Background Info:

Hi, my name is Nozomi and I’m Japanese-Canadian. I have been church-planting in Japan for a number of years and though I was raised in a Christian family, I’m still a little surprised to find myself still in Japan working in ministry! That said, it’s a wonderful, frustrating and incredible work that I feel privileged to do.

Ministry Assignments:

Special Projects & Mobilization; Canada (2006-2008)

Church Planting Associate:

  • Okinawa, Japan (2008-2010)
  • Osaka, Japan (2004-2006)
  • Yamagata, Japan (2002-2003)

Currently serving in Tokyo, Japan.

When you’re in Japan, be sure too…

Buy cotton mesh laundry bags for your laundry machine. If you don’t, the machine will take your clothes and spit them out four sizes too big… or maybe that’s just my experience with washing machines in Japan.

Want to network with others?

Sure, I’m always interested in meeting people who enjoy writing, or like to experiment with creative d.i.y. projects.

Funny Missionary Story.

I was in a restaurant and wanted to practice the new word I learned which was "ice water" or "ohiya." I had also recently learned the word for "wake" (as in funeral wake) or "otsuya." Instead of ordering water I ordered myself a wake. I think the waitress is still laughing.
