Why did I serve with Asian Access?

I have a desire to see a culture so similar to the US, in its quest for Truth in the midst of a society overrun by materialism, find the Answer. |

Background Info:
I (Shelley) was born in Portland, Oregon, lived in Redding, California for 17 years, and then moved to the Los Angeles area in 1996 to attend Azusa Pacific University. I graduated from APU in December 1999 in International Business, worked at World Vision International, then felt called to Asian Access. God had placed Japan on my heart from an early age through a friendship with a missionary to Japan. My husband, Ryan, was my brother's college roommate at Cal Poly SLO. We began talking at my brother's graduation, became best friends over time, and got married on June 15, 2002, almost exactly three years after we started getting to know each other. He has become a volunteer Asian Access Mobilizer. We now reside in Escondido, CA (San Diego area).
Ministry Assignment:
Director of Mobilization, 2000-'05.
Words of wisdom...
If you haven't already, go on a short-term missions experience and pray about the possibility of something more permanent as God leads.
Hoping for "ultimate contributions"...
Letting my light so shine before people (especially those that see me in day-in and day-out life) that they may see my Source and desire to know Him. (my adaptation of Matthew 5:16)
How is God blessing your life and ministry?
I have been able to see God's footprints and faithfulness in my life since childhood and working at Asian Access is yet another fulfillment of His will for me as I knew I would be working with Japan in some aspect since I was seven.
Hopes for the future...
I am excited to go wherever God will lead me as His vessel!
