Why did I serve with Asian Access?
It's really something to work with Japanese Christians to reach some of the many who do not yet know God's salvation. This is an organization that values such partnership and is committed to evangelism in a culturally engaging way. Asian Access models great vision in its participation with solid evangelical churches to establish witnessing communities of Japanese Christians. |

Background Info:
 God used my years at Western Michigan University to develop in me a transformative understanding and passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ. During that time, I balanced studies in Graphic Design with my involvement in undergraduate and international student ministries of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I first experienced Japan in July of 2000 taking part in an Asian Access summer team to Nagoya.
Ministry Assignment:
Presently, I'm working in a small, rural community north of Tokyo with a church called Sekiyado Chapel. We are seeking to plant a new, family-friendly church in the neighboring city of Kasukabe. On the side, I have also been developing various communications resources for Asian Access. On the other side, I sell fake Louis Vuitton on the streets of Shibuya.

Ride the train everywhere! When you see something interesting, photograph it. Also try to check out a Taiko drumming performance at one of the seasonal festivals.
Meaningful Ministry...
My church is particularly focused on children's ministry. It was kind of a shock when I first realized that the group's adults were outnumbered by elementary schoolers. Nevertheless, it's been incredible to get to know them, befriend them, watch them grow, and be a part of that growth.

Lessons I've learned...
Plan tentatively; trust God with final arrangements. The process leading up to my departure was infused with unexpected developments both helpful and challenging. It's essential to loosen the grip on your idea of how things should go in the knowledge that God may have quite another.
