Why A2?

Why am I serving with Asian Access?

I am serving with Asian Access because the people are fantastic. The strong value that Asian Access places on being a family is important to me.

Background Info:

I have served two terms in Japan with Asian Access. My first term I was in Yamagata and the second in Osaka. I'm currently in Canada working for Asian Access and attending Regent College. I became a Christian when I was ten years old. Because of my heritage, and non-Christian family members in Japan, I have always felt a pull to minister in Japan.

Ministry Assignments:

  • Administration & Recruiting; Canada office (2006-present)
  • Church Planting Associate
    • Osaka, Japan (2004-'06)
    • Yamagata, Japan (2002-'03)

Words of wisdom...

If you feel that God may be calling you into a cross-cultural ministry I would go on an Envision Trip with Asian Access! And of course be in prayer about it. Let others in your life know about your calling (e.g., family, church members/leader, etc.). They will be a great source of support and insight.

When you're in Japan, be sure to...

buy cotton mesh laundry bags for your laundry. Or your Japanese washing machine will eat your clothes and spit them out four sizes too big.

Looking for "ultimate contributions"...

I'd like to be a part of something larger than myself. I'd like to be able to say that I had served Jesus in a meaningful and vital role.

Want to Network with Others

I am always interested in networking with writers.

Funny Missionary Story

I was in a restaurant and wanted to practice the new word I learned which was "ice water" or "ohiya."  I had also recently learned the word for "wake" (as in funeral wake) or "otsuya."  Instead of ordering water I ordered myself a wake.  The waitress is still laughing.

Hopes for the future...

After seminary, I plan to return to Japan with Asian Access. I hope to make lots of friends there! I also hope to be brave and smart enough to know when and how to open my mouth to talk about Jesus to the Japanese people.
