Why A2?

Why are we serving with Asian Access?

We love A2's vision for not just planting churches but establishing a movement of church multiplication across Japan. We also appreciate the philosophy of partnering with the existing Japanese church.

Background Info:

Jeff grew up in Indiana and Iowa. He became a Christian while attending the University of Iowa and then spent several years ministering on that campus with the Navigators as well as serving on short-term trips to Mexico, Russia, and later, Peru. Bonnie came to know the Lord as a child growing up in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Liberty University, she spent two years as a short-term missionary with Asian Access. Jeff and Bonnie met while attending seminary at Columbia International University.

Ministry Assignment:

We are currently raising support and preparing to serve as Church Planting Associates. We were accepted for this role in 2008.

What would you say to people sensing God might be calling them into cross-cultural missions?

If you sense that God is leading you into missions, pray and move forward in faith! Trust God to confirm and clarify your path as you follow Him. Get the counsel of godly friends who know you well. If you are married make very sure you and your spouse are on the same page. As first steps it is helpful to get involved with internationals in your area and go on a short-term trip.

Jeff & Bonnie SixWhen you're in Japan, be sure to...

visit Nara. It's a beautiful, historic city that you can explore on foot. Make sure to feed the deer while you're there!

What have been some especially meaningful aspects of your ministry?

Some significant times of ministry have been sharing the true meaning of Christmas with Japanese friends. They love to learn about this tradition-rich holiday and are often surprised to find that so much of our celebrating centers around Christ.

What are some important lessons you’ve learned as you’ve served?

Genuinely loving people is so much more important than being able to speak their language. Even if I speak Japanese fluently, if I don't have love I am only a clanging symbol (1 Cor 13:1).
