A2 emphasizes cultivating a love relationship with Christ
We invited Asian Access board member Kärin Primuth to attend our A2 national directors' gathering to share devotions for the week. Afterward, we sat down with Kärin to get some impressions of her time with leaders from 16 A2 countries. Here is another impression that Kärin shared...
Primuth highlights that one of the priorities of the Asian Access leader development program is on cultivating a love relationship with God. She was impressed that the Asian Access leaders she observed all had a deep love for Christ which is being lived out in all areas of their lives. They demonstrate humility and have a vision for what God was doing across their countries. She also observed that they are committed to a healthy balance between ministry and family.
Kärin Primuth: Leaders Loving God; Cultivating a Love Relationship with Christ
"One of the priorities about the Asian Access two-year program is this emphasis on cultivating a love relationship with Christ. That was one of the things that really impressed me about spending the week with these leaders from across Asia.
It was very clear to me that these were leaders who had a deep love for Christ. They demonstrated humility; they had a vision for what God was doing across their countries. Their Asian Access program wasn't just about a two-year process of talking about different topics that are needed for effective leadership, but really what was happening in that two-year process was encouraging leaders to grow deep in their love relationship with Christ. That was apparent in their faces, in their conversations, in the vision that they shared for their countries, and their passion for seeing that kind of love for Christ passed on especially to those who don't have access to the Gospel.
This was something that, especially as a board member or donor, when we hear about the values of Asian Access and we stand at a distance oftentimes, not always getting a real inside look at these leaders but being able to sit with them and talk with them and hear their stories, it is so encouraging. Because so many of these leaders are living in countries where there is real resistance to the gospel where there is persecution for Christian faith and many of them face great challenges and difficulties.
Yet, despite that, their faith is strong. They are committed to a balance between ministry and family. I so deeply appreciated hearing them not just talk about ministry and the work of their church or the work that God is doing to advance the Gospel in their countries, but their deep commitment to family to their children to their wives. I think seeing that healthy balance to me demonstrated this is what a love relationship with Christ looks like. It is lived out in all aspects of our lives, not just as a leader of a church; but as a leader of a church, I'm also cultivating a whole life that is committed to living before Christ with on to authenticity and a love for my family and my community."
