Announcement FROM JOE HANDLEY...

New Announcement from Joe Handley

“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
— Hebrews 10:24-25

A2 Prayer Meetings

This past year, our Asian Access family has been meeting monthly for prayer in addition to our online cohorts and those few countries who are actually able to meet in person. In the face of the pandemic, we are learning to live out the wisdom of this passage from Hebrews as we are such a community-driven ministry.

These gatherings allow us to keep the community strong, even though we cannot gather. Just recently we had to postpone our annual Leaders Summit for the second time due to the travel restrictions as well as another key meeting we do every year in the fall. It’s been hard as I imagine it has for all of you who are only able to do virtual church.

We keep things moving through sharing via messaging apps and social media groups and the key for keeping us together, at least in my estimation, is prayer. That is the constant, continuous connection point no matter what platform we use.

We miss one another, for sure, but through these virtual community connections, we are able to keep the spirit of Asian Access alive.

Rooted in Christ, Growing Together

Even when we tire of the ongoing virtual cohort sessions and meetings, these prayer gatherings keep us rooted in Christ and growing with one another. We even hosted digital retreats sharing prayers, scriptures, teaching and yes, even games. Through these virtual experiences we keep encouraging and praying for one another, even when we cannot meet together. And, while we long to be back together in person, it is these virtual connecting points that keep us together during these most tenuous days.

This past month, several of our colleagues shared words they sensed God telling us for 2021. Perhaps these will be words that help carry you as well. I pray that they are meaningful and help provide some encouragement as we keep moving forward during this ongoing pandemic.

Life Givers

We were inspired by the words of John 1:4-5

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Even though 2020 and the beginning of 2021 may seem like the world is filled with darkness or we may feel like we are surrounded by darkness, we find life through Jesus and that life is the light that breaks through the darkness. We aspire to be Life Givers in 2021!

We were challenged to be overcomers from Rev. 3:12

He who overcomes , I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God.

Just as God called the church of Philadelphia to overcome, so too we are called to rise to this occasion and overcome the challenges that surround us.We intend to be Overcomers in 2021!

Worship is our Weapon

We realized that the key to overcoming and lifegiving is Worship: Psalm 21:13

Be exalted in your strength, Lord; we will sing and praise your might.

We are convinced that God will use this pandemic for His Glory and His Kingdom. For us, in our prayers, in our community (even virtually), and in our worship we will see God overcome.

I pray you experience God and his family through your community, even though it may only be virtually these days. If you are feeling lonely, lean into your friends, your family, the Church, the body of Christ. I trust you will experience breakthrough as you foster community in Christ and his people.

Let’s live out the truth of Hebrews this year and rise to the occasion as Christ’s body. May we worship, pray, and continually encourage one another to overcome and see breakthroughs in the year ahead!
