The Disciplemaking Course: An Initial Joint Offering
Course Description
Many discipleship courses jump right into the how-tos. But in their course co-developed for BiblicalTraining.org, Joe Handley and Mary Jo Wilson fundamentally start with how to BE a disciple and then move toward living out the practical application of this truth. The faculty structure their course around Asian Access’ four outcomes:
- Nurturing a love relationship with God
- Growing as a Christlike leader
- Reproducing disciplemaking leaders
- Catalyzing Christ-centered movements
The Disciplemaking course provides a holistic approach to being a follower of Jesus. One that is grounded in a deep love-relationship with God—a relationship that is continually shaping the disciple’s worldview, values, character, and behavior to be in line with Jesus’ life and his vision for the kingdom of God. We focus on the disciple’s understanding of the life and teaching of Jesus, growth in obedience to his commands, and an increasing awareness of and cooperation with the work of the Holy Spirit.
This course explores how that very seed of new life planted within the disciple bears fruit and is multiplied in others, ultimately causing genuine transformation in families, communities, and people groups around the world. The learner is provided with tools and guidance in what is both an exciting journey and a sacred process.
Course Structure
There are six (6) sections to this series, each with video clips, recommended background reading, and some reflection questions. There are even four group discussions recorded to see how others apply these principles in their lives. Through this course, participants will draft their own Discipleship Plan and Rule of Life.
