Deepening Sustainability by Developing More Asian Faculty

Many years of dreaming, strategizing, and planning were realized this past October when A2 held its first-ever international faculty development training in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the direction of Dr. Bob and Erlinda Betia, 34 men and women from 10 Asian Access countries buckled down for an intensive two days of training, designed to equip them to serve as Asian Access faculty—both within their own countries and throughout Asia.

Dr. Bob and Erlinda, who served as missionaries in Cambodia and Thailand prior to their return to the Philippines, provided a fast-paced training packed with practical learning objectives. The participants were organized into international teams—the better to get to know one another, engage in collaborative learning, and have fun as the groups competed for prizes.

It was an energized, fruitful, and fun two days. A few quotes from participants will give you the idea:

In spite of Dr. Bob's intensive (nose bleeding) training, we found time to connect and smile.”

“Last week, I participated in the Asian Access faculty training in Bangkok, Thailand, with two of the great senior pastors from my country. It was an amazing opportunity to learn together with leaders from throughout Asia, including Nepal, India, Cambodia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, and more.

The training included group competition. Our group is winning‼”

— Pastor Nobu N. - Japan (above middle)

“From left, American, Bangladeshi, Filipino, Cambodian, Sri Lankan--together for the kingdom of God!!! Thanks Asian Access for making this happen!”

— Rady Chan – Cambodia (2nd from right)

We deeply appreciate Dr. Bob and Erlinda’s skillful and heartfelt training. We also appreciate the efforts of the Asian Access Program Development Team—leaders from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Myanmar, and Nepal who together planned and scheduled the training event. And we especially thank YOU, our friends, prayer partners, and financial supporters. You make it possible for Asian Access to break new ground in empowering the leaders God is raising up in Asia to take the lead in ministering in their own countries, and throughout the region. THANK YOU for your investment in what God is doing in Asia through the ministry of Asian Access!
