One of A2’s key characteristics is “vibrant community.” Joe and I were able to experience exactly that at the 2014 Leaders Summit in Malaysia earlier this month. It was a blessing getting to spend 3 days with the country leaders and their wives, resource coordinators and some of the A2 staff. Spending time in worship each morning with believers from a dozen countries was a taste of what heaven will be like when people from every tongue and tribe and nation will praise the Lord, singing “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” Revelation 5:13
On the first morning both Joe and I were given the opportunity to share. Each of the three days a different leader was asked to share about the trials of the previous year – or years. Joe and I were asked to share about the struggles we had faced as a family over the past two years. When it was my turn to share a few thoughts, I was moved to tears as I looked out at the faces of the A2 community and thought of how they have supported us, prayed with us, loved us during the tough seasons. That’s what community is all about – and I think Asian Access excels at being community – people who not only share a common background, but also a common vision for the future.
I enjoyed our sessions together, as well as the meal times when Joe and I were able to spend time in smaller groups. Not only were we able to encourage one another, but also we were also able to dream about the future. It is such a privilege partnering with men and women from around the world who live fully devoted to the Lord and his work. I looked up the definition of vibrant; it means “full of energy and enthusiasm”. Our partners in Asian Access exemplify living lives in such a way; I am grateful to belong to such a community as this.
