Celebrating at the Cambodian Graduation last year was a special delight for me.
Two things happened that day that highlighted the reproducibility of Asian Access. First was seeing the Essence of Asian Access translated into the Khmer language. You know that people really own the ministry when they start processing their learning through the prism of their own language and culture. This has happened in Cambodia as the local working team has taken the principles of Asian Access to heart and this picture showing me with Pastor displays the Essence document in Khmer. Pastor later said, “Joe, You are Cambodian.” which would warm anyone’s heart.
Pastor Yourng Soth, President of Christian Mission Alliance (CMA) and Chairman of A2/Cambodia
The second picture highlights something of an even deeper sense of ownership. This leader, an Indian missionary, heard about a program called the School of Discipleship. The SOD, as they call it, birthed out of Asian Access.
A2 is "Open Source"
You see, Asian Access is meant to be shared. We’re not just another leader development program but really a reproducible process, something that is Open Source and meant to help the kingdom expand. The A2 process helps lay leaders, Sunday School teachers, Youth Pastors and Women’s Ministry leaders experience the unique Asian Access community.
Pastor Sailo, missionary from India
When this leader heard about the School of Discipleship and the fact that it is not funded via Asian Access, his heart leaped for joy. Here he is a missionary from India, having his own funding challenges, and he is so moved by the power of this process that he decided to help sponsor the School. How cool is that?
You know something is owned when you see this type of action in a country. When the local leaders embrace the core ideas into their own heart language and begin reproducing it within their own networks. I’m so proud of them!
They embody Paul’s words to Timothy:
“what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” – 2 Timothy 2:2
What are you doing to reproduce what God has entrusted to you?
