Last week our Global Team met for our monthly gathering of worship, praise, sharing and prayer. The focus was on the persecuted church as you have likely heard the news of what is happening in Myanmar and Nepal recently. The situation in other countries is challenging as well – for one situation that my colleagues face, see this article from the National Review: …Religious Americans Must Lead the Way
It’s in situations like these where we know we need one another and more importantly, we need Jesus!
I’ve been in a devotional series focused on Persecution lately and the profound words of Jesus continue to impact me:
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
— Matthew 5:10-12
Interestingly enough, at the beginning of all our calls, we practice the Public Reading of Scripture (see photos). And, this month we were listening to Matthew 5-6. What a powerful moment for us to lift one another up and especially come alongside our colleagues in Myanmar who have been under significant stress.
We also worshipped the Lord with this powerful song. I trust it’ll help you as you come alongside our sisters and brothers in these dire circumstances. They need our prayer and support.
Watch on youtube: You Are Not Forgotten
If you are facing pressure or persecution today, know this: we are praying for you and you are not forgotten. We walk by one another’s side and God is there with us in the midst of it all. Even though you are persecuted, God’s promise is that you are blessed and the kingdom of heaven is yours!
For the rest of us, please pray as we at Asian Access seek to come alongside to encourage, equip, and pray these servants of Christ.
Praying for the Persecuted,
