00302 00475Satan is the most successful when we get success to the point that it is no longer the work of God. — Herman Moldez

Pastor Herman Moldez, Asian Access/Philippines, shared an excellent devotion during our time together this month. He was sharing as part of a team with new faculty Pastor Paul Lee pictured here and myself. Herman asked us: “What is the greatest seduction (or temptation) to ministry?”

Navodaya conference sparks key church planting, family enrichment, and healing initiatives in Sri Lanka

Rev. Adrian DeVisser is Founder of Kithu Sevana Ministries, National Director for Asian Access Sri Lanka, and Vice President for Partnership Development for Asian Access. This past January, Adrian, in collaboration with key national leaders, organized the Navodaya (New Beginning) Conference at the Ape Kadella Camp and Conference Center outside of Colombo. The Conference brought together leaders from throughout Sri Lanka. As Adrian shares here, God moved powerfully through the Navodaya Conference.

“The Navodaya conference was organized in January 2018 to fulfil a threefold objective...

Not long ago I met this pastor in one of our Asian Access cohorts. His name, face and country are hidden to protect him, his family, church and the work of God in his community. What a story though! As he was sharing, I learned that he was formerly a Hindu Priest. He came to the capital of his country to seek a better life because he was on the brink of disaster—close to suicide because his life was so bad. Along the way...

joe and pastor sothCelebrating at the Cambodian Graduation last year was a special delight for me. Two things happened that day that highlighted the reproducibility of Asian Access. First was seeing the Essence of Asian Access translated into the Khmer language. You know that people really own the ministry when they start processing their learning through the prism of their own language and culture. This has happened in Cambodia as the local working team has taken the principles of Asian Access to...

EV11.6: Asian Access contributing to breaking down discrimination

Pastor Jeyakaran describes how sharing the pro-empowerment story of Powerhouse Church has challenged dozens of Indian pastors to change their perspectives and practices in terms of the priesthood of all believers, leaving behind the caste, skin color, and gender prejudices of centuries.

EV11.4: Asian Church combats discrimination against women

Pastor Jeyakaran shares how Powerhouse Church tackled the issue of full empowerment for leadership for both men and women the simple way—by releasing women as well as men into all roles of leadership in the church. Jeyakaran reflected, “God wanted us to champion the cause of releasing women into all positions of leadership the church." This has not been without controversy. He shared, “We know there is a big debate...

EV11.1: Is the Church mirroring culture or transforming it?

Pastor Jeyakaran shares the shocking reality of how the Church in his country has embraced the prevailing prejudices of his culture: caste, gender, and skin color, and how this has crippled the advance of the Gospel in his country. burmese couple screenshotDuring our recent graduation week in Myanmar, we were at a special dinner one evening and one of the participants burst out in appreciation for Asian Access. She was so exuberant that you would’ve thought Asian Access was Jesus himself! I asked her, can we have you share on video and she not only said “Yes” enthusiastically but suggested her husband, who I later learned was on the local Myanmar Working Team, should join her. Wow, what a powerful couple and amazing testimony. You won’t want to miss it! It’s five minutes but boy is it worth it. You’ll catch their enthusiasm in this video but I must confess, they are even more crazy powerful in person....

Will the Rohingya be safe if they return now?

Photo courtesy of Dinis Bazgutdinov via UnsplashMyanmar (MNN) — Myanmar and Bangladesh officials have been discussing the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar within the next two years. Plans to begin sending refugees back were set for January 23, but have been delayed as Bangladesh officials questioned the safety of those who would return and if they were returning voluntarily. And they’re not the only ones. Other officials and leaders have raised concerns as well. Asian Access’s Pastor Peter* has been in contact with Christian workers supporting and encouraging those in refugee camps in Bangladesh. After speaking with them, he says it’s difficult to know if the Rohingya people will be safe should they return anytime soon. There is still the question that hangs in the air: Will Myanmar forces abstain from violent attacks and other forms of oppression if the Rohingyas return?
