vom radio logo sqVoice of the Martyrs Radio recently interviewed Joe Handley on the topic of preparing Christian leaders for persecution. Listen as Joe shares the process used to train leaders, and the special challenges of raising up leaders prepared to endure and thrive in spite of persecution and hostility. Joe will also talk about how the principles taught translate across cultural boundaries from country to country, equipping leaders to boldly follow Christ and serve His people. Finally, Joe will equip us to pray for these leaders, as well as the ministry of Asian Access...

A2 GivingTuesday 2018 800px

Today is #GivingTuesday... We have two days for getting deals—Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But on #GivingTuesday, we have a day for giving back. Together, people are creating a new ritual for our annual calendar. #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season, and every act of generosity counts. Asian Access is participating in #GivingTuesday to help leaders like Pastor Charya, a mangled, old-looking man in one of the small Asian Access training cohorts in Cambodia.

Charya’s bones were crooked, he was missing an eye, he could barely walk. Charya (not his real name for security reasons) was spiritually convicted during the session as they talked about the apostle Paul being chief among sinners. He later confessed to the director,...

phil philip 400px“I thank God for this A2 family whom I can lean on. My learning experience made a difference in my life, family, and ministry now. Long live Asian Access! Indeed A2 is truly life transforming. I am expectant of God's favor for me, family and ministry. I am beginning to see fruits of my learning experience with A2/Philippines. Thank you for your undivided service to Jesus through Asian Access. Truly you help 'change the few for the many.' Your labor in the Lord is not in vain. Rest assured that...

Asia (MNN) — Roughly 36 percent of the world’s population lives in either China or India. China is expected to hold the world’s largest economy by 2050. The 49 nations of Asia span 17,212,048 square miles, or approximately one-third of the Earth’s land area. Joe Handley of Asian Access says the world’s largest continent has a critical role to play in the Great Commission. “This is Asia’s hour for the Gospel. She is the continent that will be finishing the task of global evangelization...

joe and silk mongolian king and queenOn behalf of Asian Access, Silk and I are grateful for your prayers and support. This photo above was taken while we were with the seventh graduating class in Mongolia. You'd be amazed to hear their praise reports! We're excited for them. We want to wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving. May this be a season where you experience the wonder of all that God has given. He is the hope of the world and we are grateful to Him.

A2 ministry report 2018 inside thumbAsian Access Ministry Highlights in 2018

Coming off our 50th anniversary, we had high aims… And 2018 is a year of ‘breakthrough’ thanks to donors and leaders like you. On several fronts, we are seeing substantive progress that encourages our hearts. It honestly feels like the book of Acts where the church grew so rapidly: "And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord." — Acts 11:21 Everywhere we turn, we are seeing progress. Whether it be new growth in Japan, expansion into new countries and regions, empowering women and younger leaders, progress toward further...

Deepening Sustainability by Developing More Asian Faculty

Many years of dreaming, strategizing, and planning were realized this past October when A2 held its first-ever international faculty development training in Bangkok, Thailand. Under the direction of Dr. Bob and Erlinda Betia, 34 men and women from 10 Asian Access countries buckled down for an intensive two days of training, designed to equip them to serve as Asian Access faculty—both within their own countries and throughout Asia...

Vision Festa Church Multiplication Conference

vision festa panelThe Church in Japan faces a crisis. And Japan’s pastors and church leaders are stepping up to face it head-on. The crisis? Unless the Church begins to grow immediately, it is possible that the Christian community in Japan will literally die out within 30 years. It’s stark evidence that illustrates how difficult it has been for the Gospel to impact the Japanese culture. The encouragement? Leaders in Japan are collaborating to explore new ways to plant and multiplying churches. In October, over 100 leaders from throughout Japan came together at Vision Festa...

mon ideree photographerMeet the Bird Man, my friend Ideree. (See him pictured here.) Why do I call Ideree the Bird Man? Because he’s more famous worldwide for his bird photography than for his pastoring a church or working with the leadership team of Asian Access. I tease him saying “Ideree, you are the most famous pastor in Mongolia.” He’s clearly embarrassed by that. But, check out his FB page and see the birds. You’ll see why...

00333 00553Meet Ariunbold! He has vision like I’ve rarely seen. It’s a God-given vision, passion, and gift mix that truly is rare among pastors these days but one that Asian Access loves to fan the flames for. Ariunbold truly is “Bold” in his faith and action. When he joined the first A2 cohort in Mongolia almost 20 years ago, Ariunbold had started 3 churches. But through Asian Access he was inspired and equipped to take his unique gifts into a whole new stratosphere. He is the embodiment of our brand: “Changing the few who change the many”...

phil group dinnerMinistry Flowing Out of Training

The men and women who volunteer to serve as faculty for Asian Access are experienced pastors and ministers. They teach out of their own ministry experience, and their dream is for our Asian Access leaders to take what they learn and run with it in their own ministries. This dream was recently realized following the May 2018 A2/Philippines session. The couple serving as faculty (who prefer not to be identified) shared a Bible study method they have found effective with unreached...

00329 00544For several years, Asian Access has focused on the importance of sustainability. However, progress was so slow that most of our leaders would say things like, “Really? Do we have to talk about that again? All we do is talk. Nothing seems to ever go anywhere!”  Fortunately, the last few years we’ve taken baby steps and today we are seeing tremendous momentum. Things are gaining steam. Why, you may ask is sustainability so important?

kishinamiagape love - n. selfless love of one person for another without sexual implications (especially love that is spiritual in nature)

Silk and I enjoyed visiting Pastor Kishinami this week who is noted for planting 33 house chapels in Tohoku following the triple disaster of March 11, 2011. What a wonderful visit with tremendous lessons learned. The key to Pastor Kishinami’s success has been Agape Love! He shared how love, without expecting anything in return (no return on investment), is the key to evangelism and church planting. While we were together, Pastor Kishinami even cut the grass of one of the friends to show his love for the neighbors as a tangible expression of this love. It was fun watching him serve and interact with the people. See the photo of him serving the community!
