Churches beef up security in the wake of bombings, 2016; courtesy Open Doors USA.

Philippines (MNN) – Three days separated a twin bomb blast at a Catholic church in Jolo and another bomb attack at a mosque in Zamboanga. ISIS claimed Sunday’s attack and government officials blame the terror group for the mosque attack. It’s unsettling, given the siege of Marawi that lasted from May to October 2017. The Philippines has struggled for decades to end a deadly Muslim separatist insurgency in its South. Asian Access’ Philippines director Herman Moldez explains, “The spread of the extremists in the Philippines really was a result of Al Qaeda. There were some people, Muslims, in the Philippines who... {addthis off}

2018 Matching Gift final tally

On behalf of the entire Asian Access family, I want to thank you for your friendship, partnership and generous support. Over the year-end, as you’ll see in our brief video here, the Lord provided more than $565,000 to help us advance the mission of empowering leaders for mission movements in Asia. You were a key part to seeing nearly $316,000 being sent in to match the $250,000 challenge that was given to us. We praise God for you....{addthis off}

handsDo you lead with an open hand or tight fist?

After reading our 2018 ministry breakthroughs report, a friend asked me why Asian Access is growing so rapidly while other better-known ministries may not be growing. For example, he knows of a ministry and leader far better known than Asian Access that is not growing. One reason why we’re seeing exponential growth now—apart from God’s hand of blessing after five decades of sowing— is that I’ve learned the secret to let go...{addthis off}

As all of you know, I am not the smartest one in the room (unless I am alone) or the sharpest knife in the drawer.  Usually, the Lord has to hit me a couple of times to get my attention.  Well, He did this morning. I was reading in A. W. Tozer’s book, The Pursuit of God, the chapter titled, The Gaze of the Soul. Here are some of the highlights: “….. Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God.” ... “They looked unto Him and were lightened: and... {addthis off}

map of AsiaInternational (A2/MNN) – Asian Access (A2) is a ministry that is usually ahead of the ‘trend’ curves in the world of missions. A few years back, they announced big goals as part of their Vision2020.

  • Equipping Leaders in 20 Countries across Asia
  • 100 Church Multiplication Teams/Networks – Japan
  • 1000 Reproducing Churches in Japan

marching toward 2020

Years ago, Asian Access set some Holy Audacious Goals for the year 2020 and now we find ourselves on the precipice of that important year. We have both 2019 and 2020 to reach these monumental stretch goals and look forward to celebrations in the Spring and Fall of 2020 to see what God has done. To give you a sense of some of those big goals, here’s a sampling...{addthis off}

joe headshot 2018 600pxHi friends! What an exciting year it's been with Asian Access this past year as we've seen a number of breakthroughs in the ministry. God has grown our ministry on a number of fronts. First off, new country development… We expanded into two brand-new countries that were really hungry for what we want to offer and what they want to see a delivered. It was so fun to come alongside and see their faces shine after their first two sessions. It's a remarkable year for us on that front. And then as we look towards the future...{addthis off}

Celebrating God's Work in 2018

2018 has been a tremendous year of seeing God bring breakthroughs in ministry. These stories help us remember His faithfulness through the last year as He continues extending His kingdom. Thank you for your partnership in prayer and giving that made these stories possible! Now, we want to share some highlights from 2018...{addthis off}

Edmund Chan keynote speaker at Asian Access summitEarlier this year, we were extremely fortunate to have Edmund Chan share a few days with us at the A2 Global Leaders' Summit. As our keynote speaker, he brought three messages that stirred our hearts. If you didn't get a chance to read Joe's perspective regarding these messages, each post is listed below. Near the end of the A2 gathering, I was eager to sit down with Edmund and have him share more wisdom on leadership with the Asian Access community. I've posted two particular clips below: one where he endorses Asian Access and one where he exhorts our leaders. I'm sure you'll be encouraged by both...{addthis off}

Not long ago, I got to watch one of our local faculty members in action… It was so fun! Dr. A, as we’ll call him for security reasons, who is blurred in these photos is an expert on Orality, a focus of modern missions since the majority of the world is either Oral Preference Learners or Illiterate. He did a superb job of training this group of pastors on the topic of “Christ and Culture.” It was inspiring watching him. We played games, had dialog, and listened to his lectures. They were all designed to keep us moving and involved. It enhanced the overall learning experience because...{addthis off}

Thank you for your overwhelming support!joe headshot 2018 600px

Hi friends! I want to thank you for your overwhelming support this year and let you know about a unique year-end opportunity that we're really excited about. Asian Access was extended a $250,000 challenge gift. So if you want to help us match that challenge, we have until December 31st. So far, $78,000 has been given pre-Christmas. And we're hoping these next few weeks that we can meet that match meet the entire $250,000. That will enable us to...{addthis off}
