A2 GivingTuesday 2019 800px

Today is #GivingTuesday...

We have weeks for getting deals and for shopping during this Christmas season. But on #GivingTuesday, we have a day set aside for giving back. Together, people are creating a new ritual for our annual calendar. #GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season, and every act of generosity counts. Asian Access is participating in #GivingTuesday to make a difference in Asia. There are several opportunities if you want to invest in our little part of God's Kingdom work in Asia. Projects include...{addthis off}

5-Fold Discipleship JourneyPastor Chinzorig from Mongolia shared at the fall session of the eighth cohort of pastors in Mongolia on Kingdom Discipleship. It was breathtaking simply sitting in and listening the first few days. He shared how often we get stuck in a simplified gospel paradigm: that we can just be saved at a one-off event in our lives and move on. He walked the cohort through God’s word amplifying an important thread in the bible: what he called 3D Discipleship or the Discipleship Journey. {addthis off}

nozomi project 1Nozomi Project Vision Expands

by Rebecca Gutknecht

Hope. It was needed after Japan’s triple disaster in March 2011, the combination of the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear plant meltdown. The people in the damaged areas were in shock and despair. Brokenness was everywhere. Hope emerged, initially from those who helped. The Japanese Church gave supplies, care, and empathy. People also came from around the world to provide support and comfort for those left in disaster’s wake. Many organizations responded, including Asian Access. After initial relief efforts were underway, it became clear that economic hope was needed for long-term recovery. The Japanese word nozomi (のぞみ) means “hope”, and, at just the right time, the Nozomi Project was born. Sue Takamoto, pioneer... {addthis off}

A2 HappyThanksgiving 2019We wish all our friends a very Happy Thanksgiving on behalf of everyone at Asian Access. Here's a brief clip we made for you... Hello everyone! We're here in Mumbai, India. We've been here for a week and having a great time. Silk has some highlights to share… Yesterday was such a blessing for me. I got to spend several hours with the first graduates of the women's cohort, and they were so excited, empowered, blessed to get this kind of leadership training. That was really exciting for me to be a part of that. And we just wanted you to know how grateful we are for your prayers and your support. This Thanksgiving, we are especially grateful for you. God bless you and Happy Thanksgiving... {addthis off}

– 1 Timothy 4:13

A wonderful new resource has been released here in Japan, one which I believe will make a lasting impact. One of our partners, the Grace and Mercy Foundation just finished the Public Reading of Scripture Drama Bible App for Japan. It complements the same resources now offered in English and Korean. Hopefully someday other languages as well... {addthis off}

“Is this a tragedy?” John Piper asked an audience of 50,000 young people when he spoke of two 80-year-old ladies, Ruby a nurse and Laura a retired doctor, who were killed instantly when their car went over a cliff in the Cameroons, where they were serving as missionaries. I continued to watch the video of John Piper where he said, “What happened to these two ladies was no tragedy. But this is a tragedy.” And then he told the story from a Readers’ Digest article about a couple aged 59 and 61, who took early retirement to live in a coastal development in Florida, USA to spend their time cruising on their trawler, playing softball and collecting seashells. And John Piper challenged his... {addthis off}

We invited Asian Access board member Kärin Primuth to attend our A2 national directors' gathering to share devotions for the week. Afterward, we sat down with Kärin to get some impressions of her time with leaders from 16 A2 countries. This is one impression that she shared with us. Kärin observed Asian Access' value of authentic community lived out among the national directors' gathering. Despite the diversity in experience and theology, there was a sense of community, respect and shared learning...

joel staveley Uo87K3AkF 4 unsplash croppsedWhen 12 spies were sent by Moses to explore Canaan, 10 of them returned with a discouraging report. They saw a land with powerful people and large fortified cities, and strongly discouraged the people from entering the land. Caleb and Joshua saw the same land differently and strongly encouraged the people to go up and take possession of the landTwelve people had sight but only two had insight. INSIGHT is a critical quality that characterises great leaders and the decisions they make. It separates leaders from followers and great leaders from ordinary leaders and can be defined as perspective, intuition, vision and discernment. However, insight can be compromised by logic, precedence, fear, legalism and traditions. Jesus was a person of insight and often saw things that others did not see. The religious leaders of His day sent...{addthis off}

Japan (MNN) — Just weeks after the super Typhoon Hagibis, another storm raced in over the weekend: Typhoon Bualoi. Robert Adair of Asian Access says the area is still in recovery mode. For those who experienced the triple disaster in 2011, the typhoons have dredged up familiar fears. Adair says that visually, the aftermath looks the same. The remnants of the storms show the water’s pathways, and people’s belongings are scattered in the open...{addthis off}
