This past week was an encouraging one for me as we spent time exploring the idea of launching our Women in Ministry training in Cambodia. It came on the heels of seeing our largest group of women ever in a graduating class – around 7 of the members in Bangladesh were women. Everywhere I go, the need to empower and equip women is overwhelming. That’s why Asian Access is spending more time and energy investing in women. On behalf of the entire Asian Access family, I want to thank you for your friendship, partnership and generous support. Over the year-end, as you’ll see in our brief video here, the Lord provided more than $565,000 to help us advance the mission of empowering leaders for mission movements in Asia. I have great news to share on two fronts! First, we are so pleased to report that we have reached our recent match grant goal by raising $177,353. Because of friends like you, the $167,000 match is not only met—it was exceeded by $10,353! Combined with the match that means an additional $344,353 is now available to launch new A2 programs in more Asian countries. We are now capable to do much more...

Recently I met a mangled, old-looking pastor in one of the small Asian Access training cohorts in Cambodia. Charya’s bones were crooked, he was missing an eye, he could barely walk. Charya (not his real name for security reasons) was convicted during the session as they talked about the apostle Paul being chief among sinners. He later confessed to the director, "I’m worse than that man."

In one of the poorest countries in the world, where garment workers labor under harsh conditions, Asian Access is partnering with InterVarsity to build the Living Water Centre (LWC)—a multi-purpose training and conference facility in a country where land and buildings like this are scarce. Peter Mazumder, general secretary of InterVarsity Bangladesh, shares in a video interview his vision for a Centre that will lead people to living water. The Maclellan Foundation has just extended a new matching challenge grant — $120,000 — to Asian Access for the largest country in East Asia. Your gifts will be doubled to train a generation of leaders!

I have great news to report. Asian Access just received a pledge that helped us double $288,711 to $577,422 to develop, multiply and transform… leaders who will reproduce themselves and churches to bring the transforming power of Christ to Asia.

What a joy to report this tremendous gift that will exponentially . . .

Last week one of my colleagues from one of the poorest nations in the world gave Asian Access $100 AUD - Australian dollars. He and his wife had prayed about helping us reach our matching challenge of $1M from Asia (or those who had been born in Asia). He so believes in the work of A2 in his country that he wanted to help his brothers and sisters in other nations.

The backstory is even more moving…

Asian Access (A2) has received another $1M matching challenge. This challenge covers the entirety of the work of Asian Access – from leader development to ‘faith and work’ and from church multiplication to transformation. It includes all ten nations in which we currently serve as well as the new one we plan launching this year in partnership with people like you. It also includes the areas we are exploring opening for the future.

We are about 87% ($177,891) of our $200,000 and we stil need $22,109 to reach our matching challenge to develop more leaders and plant more churches in Japan...
