  • Communal Digi-Prayer: For the Persecuted Church

    Last week our Global Team met for our monthly gathering of worship, praise, sharing and prayer. The focus was on the persecuted church as you have likely heard the news of what is happening in Myanmar and Nepal recently. The situation in other countries is challenging as well – for one situation that my colleagues face, see this article from the National Review: …Religious Americans Must Lead the Way

  • Praying: For Healing and Revival of our Nations

    screenshot of prayer meetingLast night our global community met for our monthly prayer gathering and I was so impressed as we prayed through the passage listed below from the prophet Joel. While our world has been through so much, Pastor K reminded us that we have been meeting repenting and praying, seeking the Lord’s direction. He challenged us that now is the time to pray for the healing of our nations from the pandemic and for revival. So, we prayed and the prayers were...

  • When things go wrong, God shows up strong!

    A2 in this together 1024x690 GI 1093166844Greetings on Good Friday. When it looks dark, that's when God shows up.

    The year I joined Asian Access was the year the economy last collapsed. I was responsible for raising more money than I had ever dreamed of before and suddenly, the stock markets dropped to the floor. We had come to the end of the year and had set up a special meeting to begin closing major portions of the ministry. The same day of that meeting, I had a lunch appointment with a pastor and told him, “What was God thinking calling me to this post? I knew he wanted me to step out in faith, and raising funds was a big part of that, but I had no idea the funds wouldn’t come in.” I would likely have to cut staff and perhaps close a lot of ministry. That same lunch hour, a call came in letting me know that a $500,000 check was in the mail. When I called our team later that afternoon, I told them “God showed up—we don’t need to worry...”

  • We are in this TOGETHER!

    A2 in this together 1024x690 GI 1093166844Dear Friends, One of the hallmarks of Asian Access is our belief in community. In fact, one of our three core values is “We LIVE Community!” In light of this, several of our countries are saddened that they cannot be meeting at this time due to the coronavirus impact. Despite their loss of meetings, they have expressed more concern for the people in their communities and for you than for their ability to meet. Herman Moldez, our director in the Philippines said, “Please pray for us as Metro Manila is now on lockdown… Pray for us as we seek to bring help to our communities...

  • Coronavirus sweeps across China

    China (MNN) — A coronavirus continues to spread through China and to other countries, presenting new challenges for Asian Access. The coronavirus first appeared in the city of Wuhan in China. Like the SARS coronavirus in 2003, this currently unnamed virus has mutated to be able to infect not just animals, but humans as well. Precisely how it made the jump from animals to humans is unknown. The virus causes pneumonia, making it potentially deadly. With almost 3,000 confirmed cases around China, over 80 have died. China has quarantined more than 50 million people, and has... {addthis off}

  • Looking Beyond 2025: A Call to Prayer for Asian Access

    harvest2 600px"The Harvest is Plentiful but the Workers are Few… Pray to the Lord of the Harvest." (Matthew 9:37-38) I have called our global community to pray as we have entered an 18-month discernment process seeking the Lord’s direction for Asian Access as we look over the horizon of 2020 toward the middle of the next decade (toward 2025). As such, we have been collecting wisdom from across our community seeking the Lord’s wisdom for what He might have in store for us given all the changes happening in the world today. Next week we begin a pivotal honing process where we try... ... {addthis off}

  • A Personal Message from Sri Lanka

    flag of Sri LankaDear Friends, Church was different for us today. A week after the Easter bombings that devastated our nation, and ongoing threats of a second wave of attacks, the island is under high-security surveillance. A curfew has been imposed every night allowing the security forces to check every house. As they do so they continue to uncover more bombs and plans of the extremist terrorist group. We are still quite shaken by the drastic turn of events in our little nation. Just a week ago Sri Lanka was a peaceful tropical Island, dubbed the top tourist destination of 2019 (according to Lonely Planet). Today, all Christian churches were advised against meeting in our usual places of worship. Our network of churches across the Island met in... {addthis off}

  • Will You Pray for the Nations?

    Will you pray for the nations?A few weeks ago we asked you to pray for us as we went into our Global Leaders Summit. You may recall the post from my friend and colleague Adrian De Visser: Strongholds: A Call to Prayer. Lori Snuggs and Adrian led us in some very powerful prayer times in KL and these slides capture the essence of their sharing. We prayed through each country knowing the power of prayer. As Dr. Robert Coleman shared the key to breakthrough...

    My friend, Cynthia MacPhee, has been going through quite a trial lately: a serious bout with cancer. We thought she had licked it a few months ago but it has returned with a vengeance. Fortunately, she was diagnosed quickly again and has seen some of the finest doctors in the world to address the...

  • Rays of Light, Matters for Prayer

    “Things have gotten better here.”

    tea break 500pxGiven where I am sitting as I hear these those words, this is no small statement. I’m writing from Dhaka, where I am attending a session for A2 Bangladesh’s third class. 15 pastors and parachurch leaders are deep into the fifth of what will be eight sessions together over a two-year period, ably led by a combination of foreign and in-country faculty. All in all, it is a very encouraging environment...

  • Pastors Share Their Profound Vision

    Ron McMahonRon McMahon, Chair of the Asian Access Board of Directors, recently visited one of the Asian Access countries, spending time with 14 alumni of the ministry. Here is his report with specific requests for you to join us in prayer for this strategic, yet closed, country:
