Words of wisdom...

Try it out for a short term service before making a long term commitment. If possible, do it before you finish your education.

When you're in Japan, be sure to...

include a visit to a Japanese home and have dinner with a Japanese family. Focus more on the people than on the places you visit.

Hoping for "ultimate contributions"...

Getting Japanese and Chinese people registered into God's Kingdom by His grace and their faith.

Wonderful ministry memories...

  • Spending time with people outside of formal teaching settings as well as in class.
  • Eating with Japanese people, visiting them in their homes, sharing in their everyday life. This opens up good conversations and opportunities to share significant insights about relationship to God and learning from His Word.

How is God blessing your life and ministry?

I see seeds planted, now growing and bearing fruit. It's exciting when young Christians become mature and go on to be leaders and seed planters and harvesters for God's Kingdom.

In Japan, I enjoy...

The people.

life 198350th Anniversary of Asian Access

This New Year 2017 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Asian Access mission founded in 1967 by K&J. Attracted by the creative, entrepreneurial, pioneering vision and commitment to close partnership with Japanese Christians, I joined the mission in 1975 and will be celebrating my forty-second year on the field in Japan. Reflecting the expansion of the mission, there were meaningful name changes from Language Institute for Evangelism to LIFE Ministries to Asian Access to Asian Access/SIM. I’ve followed the development of the mission in what has been a most rewarding and fruitful career filled with lots of....

Dee WirzA2 Devotional • November 28, 2010

As the Advent season began one year ago I found myself in a six-bed room on the cancer ward of a Japanese public hospital. From my human perspective as a person who had enjoyed a previously healthy, hospital-free seventy years of life, it was an unlikely, unexpected, unwanted, unpleasant, unanticipated venue. There was plenty of darkness in that room as each of my fellow-patients had been struck with the stopper of a cancer diagnosis calling for various measures of severe treatment with no guarantees on getting out of the black hole. It was definitely cause for reflection on the value and meaning of life...

Why A2?

Why am I serving with Asian Access?

In order to reach His beloved people of Japan, God called me and assigned me to this nation, to this organization, and to the various roles I've had over the last 30+ years.

In 1975, I went to Japan as a short-termer, and I've been here pretty much ever since!
