Ministry Assignment

Serving as the Director of Bible Study Ministries, Dee has been with Asian Access since 1975.

Words of wisdom...

Try it out for a short term service before making a long term commitment. If possible, do it before you finish your education.

When you're in Japan, be sure to...

include a visit to a Japanese home and have dinner with a Japanese family. Focus more on the people than on the places you visit.

Hoping for "ultimate contributions"...

Getting Japanese and Chinese people registered into God's Kingdom by His grace and their faith.

Wonderful ministry memories...

  • Spending time with people outside of formal teaching settings as well as in class.
  • Eating with Japanese people, visiting them in their homes, sharing in their everyday life. This opens up good conversations and opportunities to share significant insights about relationship to God and learning from His Word.

How is God blessing your life and ministry?

I see seeds planted, now growing and bearing fruit. It's exciting when young Christians become mature and go on to be leaders and seed planters and harvesters for God's Kingdom.

In Japan, I enjoy...

The people.

Japan 2020Next year an immense opportunity is knocking at our doors and you can play a part in it! Tokyo is hosting the 2020 Olympics and Asian Access in partnership with SIM is mobilizing teams to participate through partnering with local churches in reaching out. I hope you’ll join us! We’re praying for a breakthrough and believing that God has a plan to see the Christian population double by 2023 and the Olympic year presents a unique springboard for this to happen. In a few weeks, Japan is hosting the Rugby World Cup which starts the wheels rolling. Then, next summer you can take part through teams coming to serve before the games as Tokyo hosts both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

jpn closeup 753 webSeveral months ago, one of our staff kids went on a school outing. On this outing, the class visited a neighborhood temple near the school to learn more about the culture and religion. As you would expect, her parents wanted to know how the day went and as good parents followed up with her that evening. “How did you day go today?” they asked. She said, "We went to the temple on an outing today." And, upon further prompting, “What was that like?” she proceeded to say...

Dee Silk Joe coffeeThis past Sunday Silk and I had the privilege of spending a meal and afternoon with Dee Wirz. Dee is completely 43 years of ministry in Japan with us next month and we wanted some special time with just the few of us. What a joy it was being with her. It came following our annual staff retreat where many staff honored Dee and a letter was read from our founder, Ken with his wife Jan, as well as a skype from my predecessor Doug and his wife Jeanie. The impact Dee has made for the kingdom in Japan (and China)...

Dee Wirz's postNot long after our 50th Anniversary Gathering in Jakarta, Jubilee in Jakarta, I received this note from my colleague Dee Wirz:

While the history of what has become Asian Access mission began exclusively in Japan 50 years ago, our outreach has now expanded to eleven countries in Asia. During the A2 Jubilee celebration held in Jakarta recently, I had my first opportunity to get to know many of our extended mission family pictured above. After the presentation of a twelve-minute...

Why A2?

Why am I serving with Asian Access?

In order to reach His beloved people of Japan, God called me and assigned me to this nation, to this organization, and to the various roles I've had over the last 30+ years.

In 1975, I went to Japan as a short-termer, and I've been here pretty much ever since!
